About Sara

For nearly two decades, Sara has been committed to cultivating learning environments that foster joy and independence for all. She has worked as a classroom teacher, teacher-leader and instructional coach in a variety of school settings (TK-12). Sara earned her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College in New York City and is the co-author of the book, Implementing Project Based Learning in Early Childhood: Overcoming Misconceptions and Reaching Success (Routledge, 2020).

Sara was a founding teacher at a charter school in Los Angeles where she also served as the school’s Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) coordinator and taught yoga to 4th and 5th graders, as well as to her own Transitional Kindergarten (TK) students. She is currently working as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) at Larchmont Charter School where she is an instructional coach and facilitates professional development for teachers and school leaders TK-12. In addition to her work at Larchmont, she often leads workshops and trainings on the topics of Project Based Learning, restorative practices, and SEL with a variety of organizations such as PBLWorks., Circle Ways, A Thousand Joys and her own company, Early Childhood Project Based Learning. At the heart of all of her work is her unwavering vision for positive, transformative learning communities.

Originally from Rockville Maryland, Sara moved to New York City after graduating from the University of Rochester and worked as an actor and American Sign Language Interpreter. She helped pilot the Yoga Ed. Chair Yoga and Mindfulness course for Deaf and hard-of-hearing professionals in 2020/21 and is excited to join Yoga Ed. this year as a program facilitator. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two sons.
