About Cynthia
PRONOUNS: SHE / HER
The daughter of Mexican immigrants, Cynthia was born in Long Beach, CA. She pursued her bachelor’s degree in San Francisco, and upon graduating began a career in educational reform, specifically focused on supporting low income schools and families. She received her Master’s degree in Hawaii, where she studied the impact of family dynamics on early childhood. She then moved to New York, working in the nonprofit sector, and serving the lowest performing schools across the city. Her passion for social justice issues carried over to her personal projects, as she transitioned into a creative career that is dedicated to highlighting immigrant, minority, and LGBTQ stories. In 2016, she co-founded and launched Maroon World, a publishing and creative studio committed to celebrating the lives of BIPOC.
