Social Emotional Learning (SEL) emphasizes the importance of connection and community. When we allow SEL to be the foundation for our classrooms, we facilitate a supportive classroom environment where our students feel a sense of belonging, emotionally safe, and motivated. This doesn’t mean that we deprioritize academics in the 2022 – 23 school year. It simply means that SEL must be a part of our academic learning plan.
