Course Schedule

Week 1

Hello! On the first week of the course, we will introduce the program and review the course schedule. You’ll experience a children’s yoga class in action so we can start to get a feeling for the work.

Week 2

Teaching Philosophy: Explore the teaching philosophies that inform your work as a Yoga Educator. We’ll discuss the impact and importance of these philosophies for effective teaching.

Week 3

Classroom Management: What does it take to create a safe space for effective teaching and engaged learning? Find out this week. Plus, we will take this a step further by exploring how to cultivate positive relationships with your students through classroom management techniques. You’ll also learn the fundamentals of lesson planning for a children’s yoga class.

Week 4

The Brain: Trust us, brain-based learning will be your best guidance for teaching yoga to children. This week, we will examine how the brain develops during childhood and how these changes influence how students are showing up in classroom. You’ll also explore developmental milestones, and apply what you learn about the brain this week to design yoga classes for students’ developmental needs.

Week 5

Anatomy and Physiology: Learn about children’s anatomy and physiology. You will understand how children’s bodies change during childhood and how to tailor yoga tools to safely support children’s physical development.

Week 6

Yoga Breathing, Warm-Ups, and Poses: This week we will begin to introduce yoga tools, starting with children’s breathing and warm-ups. We will also introduce yoga postures for children. Lectures will be interspersed with opportunities to put what you learn into practice with practice teaching activities.

Week 7

Partner Poses, Games, and Relaxation: This week we will cover partner poses, games, and relaxation techniques. You will take what you have learned and put it into practice with final assignment.

Week 8

Course Finale: Put everything together by presenting final assignments. You will also be equipped with a few extra teaching resources that can help enrich your students’ yoga experience.
